The Millcreek Township Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed to pass the draft 2025 budget at its meeting Wednesday.

The budget does not include a millage increase.

Supervisors also unanimously agreed to pass resolutions approving the fire hydrant tax, street light tax, and real estate tax, all of which remain the same from this year.

The board also unanimously agreed to approve low bids for a salt shed and walking path, both of which will be paid for with remaining ARPA funds.

Woodland Contractors placed the low bid for both projects, with the walking path costing $102,000 and the salt shed costing $278,217. The township had estimated the former would cost around $99,000 and the latter $350,000.

The board said the remainder of the $414,000 in ARPA funds will be spent on engineering fees, meaning the projects will cost nothing to the borough.

In other news, supervisors:

  • Heard that discussions are under way to hire Commonwealth Inspection Services along with the adoption of the International Property Maintenance Code, with the solicitor estimating that things may be in place by March.
  • Directed the solicitor to send notices to three residences with unpaid mowing bills, with intent to file liens if owners do not pay within 30 days.
  • Directed the solicitor to reach out to PennDOT concerning brake retarder prohibition on Route 419 in Newmanstown. A request was denied by PennDOT around eight years ago.
  • Heard that the owner of 328 Stricklerstown Road has requested a variance to put a contractor’s office on the property, and that a zoning hearing board hearing will be held on the matter.
  • Unanimously agreed to approve the CM High Traffic Signal Preventative Maintenance Agreement.
  • Unanimously agreed to set the rate of pay for auditors (who would meet to decide the rate of pay for supervisors if they worked in the township) at $18 hourly. However, no one has been found for the positions.
  • Announced that Christmas tree pickup will occur Jan. 6 through 27.
  • Unanimously agreed to approve routine PLGIT transfers.
  • Unanimously agreed to give a highway department employee a $700 Christmas bonus.
  • Heard that the culprits of damage to the pavilion have been found and identified as juveniles. The parents have been contacted and will pay $2,675 in damages.

Millcreek Township meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Meetings are open to the public and do not require prior registration.
