Penn State Extension is offering three workshops on hay production, including one in Lebanon County, to help farmers improve their output.
The local workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at the extension office at 2120 Cornwall Road #1, Lebanon.
“Producing the highest quality hay is a goal that every farmer should have,” the release explains. “Whether you are feeding hay to your own animals or marketing your hay to others, quality is of the highest importance.”

- Soil fertility management.
- Species selection.
- Forage weed control.
- Minimizing dry matter loss after cutting.
- Reducing hay drying time.
- BMPs of high quality baleage.
- Forage testing.
- Costs.
- Marketing.
Similar workshops are being offered in March in Washington and Jefferson counties.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged at each location. Registration fee is $25. More information about the program and event registration is available online or by calling 1-877-345-0691.
