Jeffrie C. Marley Jr. has announced his intentions to seek reelection to the office of Lebanon County Sheriff.

Marley retired as a sergeant from the Lebanon City Police Department in 2021 after serving more than 27 years as a police officer. He has also been involved in volunteer fire and rescue services for 37 years.

A Lebanon County native, Marley is a graduate of Cedar Crest High School, Kutztown University, the Municipal Police Academy at Harrisburg Area Community College, and Penn State University’s Advanced Police Executive School. He and his wife live in South Lebanon Township and are the parents of three daughters.

He was elected sheriff in 2021.

“Serving Lebanon County has been an honor that he hopes to continue for another four years,” the press release announcing his intentions said. “Jeff’s training, experience, commitment, and love for his community has driven him to seek re-election. … Since a young age, his family has instilled a passion for public service and dedication to the community.”

If re-elected, the release said, Marley will “continue to foster and build partnerships with the various law enforcement agencies, county agencies, and community partners for the benefit of Lebanon County and its residents.”

In an email to LebTown, Marley said he is “proud of the staff that I have and the support that they give to the office and residents of the county each day. Together we have worked to make our services more accessible to the community.”

For example, he said, license to carry permits and sheriff real estate sales have been moved to an online platform to give residents easier access.

“We have increased our presence and visibility in the community by attending many community events,” he added. “This has allowed our office to build important relationships with citizens. We have also built very good relationships with our partnering county law enforcement agencies.”

He also said he restructured the sheriff’s office to allow “for better supervision and accountability,” and he introduced a policy and procedure manual and a monthly training program.
