After filing for bankruptcy in January, Joann (formerly Jo-Ann Fabrics) announced Wednesday that it would be closing 500 of its 800 remaining stores, including its Lebanon location.
If the District of Delaware Bankruptcy Court gives approval at a hearing on the motion Friday to close the stores, going-out-of-business sales could begin at the targeted locations – including the Lebanon store at 1860 Quentin Road – as soon as Saturday, Feb. 15. Going-out-of-business sales will be limited to in-store merchandise.
Joann continues to fulfill e-commerce orders via joann.com.
Exact closing dates have not been announced for the affected stores. Joann said the going-out-of-business sales could continue for several months.
Gift cards are no longer being sold by Joann. Previously issued gift cards are being accepted for in-store purchases, but not for online orders, the company said.
“A lot depends on the outcome of the court-supervised sale process and our policy may be further updated as we progress through this process,” said the company in a statement. “We will provide updates if there are further changes to our policies.”
The company is also seeking to discontinue returns, which would cease two-weeks following court approval of the company’s restructuring plan.
Joann opened its first Lebanon County store at the Lebanon Valley Mall in 1978, before moving to Cedar Crest Square in 1990.
