The Western Lebanon County Regional Police Department announced Friday that it has taken custody of Tyreef Spears, the suspect in a Jan. 7 hit-and-run in Palmyra Borough that seriously injured a woman.
In that incident, Spears is alleged to have been the driver of a vehicle that ignored two stop signs before crashing into a vehicle and a house at Locust and Pine streets. Court documents allege that Spears fled the scene and hid in a high school locker room for two hours before changing clothes and being picked up by another vehicle.
The department said that it took custody of Spears in New York City on Thursday, March 6. Spears was transported to Lebanon County and arraigned Thursday evening in front of Magisterial District Judge Anthony Verna.
Spears has been remanded to Lebanon County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail, which was set at $75,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 20 in front of Magisterial District Judge David Warner.
Spears is charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors, including felony aggravated assault by vehicle and accidents involving death or personal injury.
