The Lebanon County Mental Health/Intellectual Disabilities/Early Intervention Program will offer free Mental Health First Aid training sessions this spring and fall, equipping community members with essential skills to recognize and respond to mental health crises.
The eight-hour training course will be held on April 10 or September 16, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the program’s office at 220 Lehman Street in Lebanon.

Participants will learn the ALGEE Action Plan: Assess for risk of suicide or harm, Listen nonjudgmentally, Give reassurance and information, Encourage professional help, and Encourage self-help and other support strategies.
The training is particularly valuable for employers, police officers, hospital staff, first responders, and caring individuals who want to better support those experiencing mental health challenges. Statistics show that nearly one in five Americans lives with a mental illness, highlighting the importance of community-wide mental health awareness and response capabilities.
The in-person sessions are free of charge, but registration is required. Interested participants should contact Monica Boyer at monica.boyer@lebanoncounty.pa.gov to register.
The Mental Health First Aid curriculum, developed by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults.
