The third annual Umbrella Walk, celebrating the life and legacy of Lt. William D. Lebo, will be held Monday, March 31.
The walk begins at 4:30 p.m. at Southwest/Optimist Park.
The umbrella, according to a release from the Lebanon City Police Department, commemorates Lebo’s unwavering dedication.
“Rain or shine, Lt. Lebo walked to work every day, carrying the same green and white golf umbrella – one placed by the back door at home, another at the police station,” the release said. “It was more than just shelter from the elements; it was a symbol of his dedication, preparation, and quiet reflection.
“Those umbrellas remain by the doors today … just in case.”

To support their mission – “Grow Lebanon. Grow Our Leaders. Grow Our Future.” – police are selling special edition golf umbrellas in honor of Lt. Lebo. Umbrellas are $40 and are available for purchase at police headquarters. All proceeds benefit scholarships and projects aimed at strengthening the Lebanon community.
“Lt. Lebo dedicated 40 years to the City of Lebanon, serving with honor, love, and devotion,” the release said. “The Umbrella Walk is not just a tribute to him but also a celebration of the police profession and all who take the oath to serve and protect.”
Lebo was just a month shy of his retirement when he was killed in the line of duty on March 31, 2022 while responding to a residential break-in.
