The annual Lebanon Tire Collection event is scheduled for April 30 at the Lebanon Valley Fairgrounds & Exposition Center, and organizers with the Lebanon County Conservation District say anyone planning to drop off some tires should preregister to avoid the lines.
The collection event runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the expo center, at 80 Rocherty Road, Lebanon. Collection is open only to Lebanon County residents, so participants should bring proof of address, such as a driver’s license or utility bill, to the event.
“All Lebanon residents are welcome to register to bring a limited number of tires for free, as long as funding is available in their municipality,” Lydia Mohn, the mosquito-borne disease control program coordinator for Lebanon County, said in an email. “Some municipalities are already out of funding or running low.”
So far, Bethel Township, Cleona Borough, and South Londonderry Townships are the only municipalities out of funding. A list of municipalities that are out of funding will be updated on the pre-registration page.
“Funding is ‘first come, first served,’ so we encourage residents to register now,” Mohn added. Pre-registration is open now through April 14.
Individuals can turn in 10 auto tires or one oversized (25-inch diameter or larger) tire for free, as long as funds are available in an individual’s municipality,” the flyer explains. Individuals will be charged after municipality funds are depleted at a rate of $4 per auto tire and $40 for oversized tires.
Tires must be off the rim, drained of water, unburned and “not excessively dirty,” according to the flyer. For more information, contact Mohn at lydia.mohn@lccd.org or 717-277-5275, ext. 112.
