The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced a district-wide line painting project will begin Monday, affecting several major routes in Lebanon County.

The $2.8 million project will include application of white and yellow pavement lines on highways throughout PennDOT’s eight-county District 8 region, which includes Lebanon County.

Work will begin in York County before moving to Lebanon County, where Interstate 78, Interstate 81, Route 22, Route 322, and Route 422 will receive fresh pavement markings.

“This will be a mobile operation,” said PennDOT in its announcement. “Motorists should be alert and give line painting vehicles plenty of room to operate.”

Drivers are advised to avoid crossing freshly painted lines to prevent tracking paint onto vehicles.

The project, contracted to RoadSafe Traffic Systems, Inc. of Hazelton, PA, will initially operate during daylight hours. Operations will shift to nighttime hours once temperatures become consistently warmer.

All work is expected to be completed by November 21, 2025, weather permitting.
