“We are thrilled to be participating in our first Indie Bookstore Day, which will also be when we celebrate six months (to the day) since our opening on October 26, 2024. The community has so clearly been appreciative and supportive of what we are trying to establish here, and I am very grateful. This event is just a great way to celebrate local people and businesses, thank our customers and community, and highlight the importance of indie bookstores and books.”
– Brittany Haynes, CEO & Owner, Book Bar.
Independent Bookstore Day (Indie Bookstore Day) was established in 2013 to promote, celebrate, and highlight the value of the independent bookstore community. The day has been observed on the last Saturday of April every year since 2013. This year there are over 1,400 stores participating across the country.
Independent Bookstore Day is organized by the American Booksellers Association, a national not-for-profit trade organization, that works with booksellers and industry partners to ensure the success and profitability of independently owned book retailers, and to assist in expanding the community of the book.
