First Friday Art Walk at Pho Bar & Grill
7 p.m., Friday, May 2 | 103 W. Main St., Annville
Genres and conventional approaches to songwriting are a thing of the past, a dying art. While this may be the bane and disapproval of many modern music listeners’ experience, an artist like Alex Stanilla uses this approach as inspiration. Stanilla’s music seems to be the result of the internet age and having access to a number of different forms of media at any time. Stanilla’s songs are equal parts electro-pop, hip hop, alternative rock, and jazz with an assorted number of glitches, synth howls, and shouted vocals making their way through the sonic landscape of his songs.
Stanilla’s latest album, “Qualia,” has been described as the lovechild of “The Beach Boys and Bastille,” and he’s described it as an “impression.” “It’s like making an experimental film, very little thought to how things should transpire, but just going to the strangest places possible.” Stanilla already has another E.P. and a full-length ready to be released in the coming months and sees this time in his life as a “musical purge.” For anyone who likes their pop music homemade and created with a great deal of heart and intention, Stanilla’s music is highly recommended.

Kids are welcome!
1. Bring your plants that need to be repotted.
2. We’ll give you moral support (and instructions).
3. Make a mess — gloves are suggested.
Are your plants having trouble growing even though they’re getting the right amount of light? Are they always thirsty? Do they yellow for no apparent reason? They could be rootbound and in need of a root makeover, or just need fresh soil.
Let the dirt fly! While sipping on coffee or tea, we will show you a tried-and-true method of repotting rootbound plants. We’ll also give you the science behind why potted rootbound plants and non-rootbound plants struggle.
Cleona Flowers will provide you with enough organic potting soil to make your plants happy in their new receptacles (some sized growing pots will be available at no charge). We will also have a selection of plastic and ceramic pots available for sale, as well as drip trays/saucers. You may also bring your own pots. Decorative rocks and moss are also included in the price.
Cost is $1.00 per inch of pot. For example, an 8″ pot will cost $8. Pay at the door. Register at cleonaflowers@outlook.com. Please give your name, phone number, and the number and size of the plants that you’ll be bringing.

Documentary Film Premiere at The Allen Theatre & Salamander Bookstore Cafe
$10.00 | 6-8 p.m., Saturday, May 10 | 36 E. Main St., Annville
Come out and support this unique documentary featuring local interviews shot in Lebanon, PA!
Annubis Productions is proud to announce the premiere of their latest documentary, “This Is Why I Believe,” a compelling film featuring short interviews with 25 individuals exploring the deeply personal reasons behind their faith in God. The premiere will take place on Saturday, May 10, at 6 p.m., at the Allen Theatre. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 each.
“This Is Why I Believe” was inspired by a simple yet profound question posed during a church sermon: “Why do you believe in Jesus?” This question ignited a personal quest to understand the foundation of faith in contemporary America. A 2023 Gallup poll revealed that only 47% of Americans hold absolute certainty in their belief in God, a statistic that underscores the importance of exploring and sharing stories of faith.
“Why do people believe in God?” asked Erik Soulliard, the film’s director. “And, if we could share their stories, perhaps we could inspire others to rediscover faith.”
This documentary features raw and honest interviews, revealing the diverse and powerful reasons behind belief. These interviews have already resonated with audiences online, demonstrating a genuine desire to understand and connect with the personal journeys of faith.
“In an age of fleeting content, we’ve created a film that delves deeper,” stated Soulliard. “These stories are too powerful to be diluted. We believe they deserve to be shared in their authentic form with no supplementary footage.”
This feature-length documentary doesn’t just contain personal stories, it also incorporates interviews with theologians and psychologists to provide a comprehensive understanding of the universal human experience of faith.
See interview excerpts and updates at www.facebook.com/thisiswhyibelieve/.

Support the film’s mission at donorbox.org/thisiswhyibelieve.
Join us on Saturday, May 10, at 6 p.m., at the Allen Theatre to experience “This Is Why I Believe.”

“Stripped for Parts” Screening at Allen Theatre
Free | 1:30-3 p.m., Sunday, May 18 | 36 E. Main St., Annville
“Stripped for Parts” tells the story of the secretive hedge fund that used to own the Lebanon Daily News until it was swapped to Gannett in 2015. The film explores why Alden Global Capital has gobbled up so many newspapers only to gut them. It’s a question your LebTown editor asked himself many times from 2012-2014 when he worked for Alden, an experience that led to LebTown’s founding. Our thanks go out to the filmmakers who are letting LebTown host this screening for a nominal fee due to the alignment between our focus on local news and the message of the film.
This screening will be held in the Allen Theater, the county’s last single-screen movie house. Before and after this free screening, you’ll have a chance to meet reporters from LebTown’s newsroom and browse the attached Salamander Bookstore Cafe.
