LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.
Our Pet of the Week is sometimes available for adoption through a local shelter. Other times the weekly column will spotlight a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home.
This week, meet Murphy and Sir Winston!
These equine entries are both “saved older men,” says owner Joan Light. She says she purchased them both at auction and gave them a home in Lebanon.
Both, she adds, “are super sweet.”
The horses are both of the Haflinger breed, which – according to the Federation Equestre Internationale – “began life in the foothills of the Alps in the 19th century.”
“We’ve been enjoying their distinctive chestnut coat, small and stocky stature, and light mane and tail ever since,” the website explains.
“Haflingers are, in the main, great family horses with easy-going dispositions. The breed is generally known for an extremely kind and gentle nature. It is also calm, which means it does not get over-excited, or spook easily. This kind nature and calmness also make the Haflinger a suitable horse for riders of all ages and levels.”
Congratulations to Murphy and Sir Winston for being this week’s LebTown Pets of the Week!
