In a bankruptcy filing Friday, Rite Aid announced that its location at 2 Cumberland St. in Lebanon will be first to close in Lebanon County.
In early May, Rite Aid entered voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings for a second time. The company said that it was pursuing “a strategic and value-maximizing sale process for substantially all of its assets.”
So far, 361 locations across the country have been included on the company’s notices of closing locations. The Cumberland Street location and 150 others were on the list Friday.
The company’s other Lebanon County locations at 980 E. Main St. in Palmyra, 469 West Penn Avenue in Cleona, and 415 S. 9th St. in Lebanon have not yet been identified for closure, but more closing locations are expected to be announced by the company in the coming weeks as it winds down operations.
Leases for the Lebanon locations are among the more than 1,000 listed by A&G Real Estate Partners for takeover as part of the proceedings. The 2 Cumberland St. lease runs through 2028 for the 10,645-square-foot store. The 415 S. 9th St. lease runs through August 2034 for the 13,813-square-foot store. The Cleona lease runs through 2028 for the 10,800-square-foot store.
CVS has acquired the prescription files of 625 Rite Aid pharmacies across 15 states, including Pennsylvania.
