A section of westbound Interstate 78 in Bethel Township will be reduced to a single lane next Wednesday as crews work to clean up contaminated soil from a previous truck crash.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced the left lane and shoulder will be closed between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on June 18 near Mile Marker 3.9, just east of the Lickdale Road overpass.

The right lane will remain open during the soil remediation project, which aims to remove diesel fuel contamination from an earlier truck accident.

Motorists should expect delays and watch for slow-moving vehicles and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway throughout the work zone.

The project is weather-dependent and could be rescheduled if conditions are unfavorable.
