South Annville Twp. approves snow sign ordinance, appoints new solicitor

At its June meeting, the South Annville Township Board of Supervisors approved Snow Sign Ordinance #061125, following its advertisement and public hearing.

The ordinance prohibits parking during snow events and details snow emergency routes and related information.

Supervisors also appointed Colleen Gallo, a partner of Barley Snyder’s Real Estate, Trusts & Estates, and Litigation Practice Groups, as the new zoning hearing board solicitor. Gallo succeeds Steven Stine, owner of the Law Office of Steven A. Stine, who is leaving the position after several years of service to the township.

Additionally, at the meeting, supervisors approved a draft agreement between the township and Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Stern. The agreement grants the family a 90-day extension on their accessory dwelling permit, so they can sell their modular home and remove it from their property following their in-laws’ move.

Supervisors received a letter from an Annville resident with complaints about the warehouse and truck traffic, but they decided not to read it at the meeting due to it not being signed.

In other news, supervisors unanimously moved to:

• Approve the secretary’s report for the May 14 meeting.
• Approve the treasurer’s report for May, which featured a credit card balance of $1,269. The credit card balance was notably higher due to the township purchasing a generator for use when traffic lights are out, since their current generator needed to be replaced.
• Approve the engineer’s report for the month of May, which encompassed the start of work on the Brandt Road culvert replacement project, work on projects in three residential developments — Candler’s Pointe, Carmany Place, and Southgate — work on a DEP permit for the Louser Road drainage project, and work on the township’s MS4 permit with the DEP.
• Approve the police report for May, which included 275 incidents for South Annville Township and 27 for Western Lebanon County Regional, and a total of 296 hours for South Annville Township and 43 for Western Lebanon County Regional. Township Police Chief Ben Sutcliffe anticipates these hours may be higher due to an incident on June 10 that continued into the afternoon hours on June 11.
• Approve the payment of township bills.

Supervisors congratulated assistant township manager Heather Mesko for completing the PSATS degree program, which involved four quads. At next year’s PSATS convention, Mesko will have the opportunity to walk across the stage and accept her diploma.

South Annville Township supervisors meet at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. Meetings are held in the township building at 1042 Horseshoe Pike, which features an ADA-accessible ramp and an on-site parking lot with ADA-accessible spaces, and are open to the public. Next month’s meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 9.
