MVP congratulates GAF and Myerstown Borough on the new revitalization project.
“Thanks to the caring community spirit of GAF, with great support and cooperation of Myerstown Borough, our Myerstown families can now enjoy new basketball and pickleball courts, and a tennis court, painted with epoxy-modified acrylic,” said MVP Chair Steve Goodhue. “A new Story Walk for children is also located at Myerstown Community Park, accessible off Route 501 in Myerstown. Check it out!”

The MVP initiated the Street Bond Project when MVP President Denise Gouldey and then GAF HR Director Amber Spengler met at DoGood’s Restaurant to begin it. Note that this is one of a very few GAF Street Bond projects, and the first of its kind in Pennsylvania.
GAF Plant Manager Johan Alexandersson notes that this impressive community outreach project has been in the works for about three years. “We are proud to see it come to fruition at last,” he says.
“We used the colors yellow and blue, which match Eastern Lebanon County School District’s colors,” said Alexandersson. “It reflects our close relationship with the ELCO School. Coincidentally, blue and yellow are also colors used by Myerstown Borough. The ELCO Interact Club also helped with the project.”
Alexanderson also serves on the Myerstown Vitality Partnership Board of Directors. GAF employs approximately 160 people at the Myerstown plant, many of whom volunteer for community projects like this one. GAF is a roofing and waterproofing manufacturer.
Myerstown Borough Manager Michael McKenna commented on the project, “This effort is a true celebration of Myerstown’s spirit – a place where families gather, neighbors connect, and history inspires the future.”
