The James Biever Police-Community Alliance (JBPCA) is excited to unveil a brand new logo for the Fifth Annual James Biever Memorial 10K, 5K, and 1-Mile Fun Walk, featuring a beaver character sporting sunglasses and a police hat!
The design offers a lighthearted nod to the name “Biever,” and captures the community-centered spirit of the annual event. This year’s event is scheduled for August 9 at the Lebanon Expo Center on the Lebanon Valley Rails to Trails.
The logo was created by Derek Underkoffler, a Lebanon City Police Officer who began his career with the department in 2015. Derek and his wife, Rayna, have been volunteering with the James Biever Police-Community Alliance (JBPCA) since 2022, regularly participating in JBPCA-hosted events such as the James Biever Memorial Run and the Cram-a-Cruiser food drive. When discussions began about designing a new logo for the run, Derek offered his artistic talents to help bring the vision to life.
What began as a rough hand-drawn sketch later evolved—with the help of AI—into the fun and meaningful concept we have today. Dylan Rigg also contributed to the process by providing a few creative touch-ups. Dylan, who is married to Jim’s daughter Noel, designed the foundation’s logo, which features Jim’s actual fingerprint as a lasting and personal symbol of his legacy.

“This year’s logo captures everything we love about this event—fun, community, and the spirit of Jim,” said Michelle Biever. “He definitely had a great sense of humor, and we wanted something that would reflect that and make people smile the moment they saw it. We think this cheerful beaver does just that.”
Jim was a retired Corporal and 25-year veteran of the Pennsylvania State Police. Jim created the foundation to support and strengthen law enforcement-community partnerships, and promote programs that foster compassion and connection, reflecting his lifelong commitment to service, mentorship, and building a stronger, more united community.
In addition to the 10K and 5K runs, the event features a 1-mile fun walk with scavenger hunt, a strong police presence with cruisers and other police vehicles on display, and a popular raffle basket fundraiser. Raffle prizes include admission to Hersheypark, Lancaster Barnstormers and Reading Fightin Phils games, The Crayola Experience, Lincoln Caverns, a Gettysburg Ghost Tour, overnight stays and whitewater rafting in Jim Thorpe. Themed baskets and gift cards to local restaurants round out the offerings, drawing interest from runners and community supporters alike.
