LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.

Our Pet of the Week sometimes is a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home. Other times the weekly column will spotlight an animal that’s available for adoption through a local shelter and is seeking a forever family.

This week, meet adoptable Chico!

Chico is an American Staffordshire terrier who’s just over 10 years old.

“He originally found his way to us in 2019, and was adopted,” Taylor, from the Humane Society of Lebanon County, explained. “Chico was recently returned to us due to no fault of his own when his previous owners could no longer care for him. Since being returned, Chico is sad to find himself back in the kennels.”

You don’t want this sweet face to be sad, do you?

“This sweet and gentle senior is seeking a comfy couch to chill and relax on,” Taylor says. “He has a low energy level, and would make a great couch potato companion! Chico is a slow walker, and walks well on a leash. While in the play yard, Chico shows a spunky personality by shredding squeaky stuffy toys – those are his favorite!”

Of course, Chico enjoys pets and being “loved on by his human friends,” but he also doesn’t mind doing his own thing and being independent for a spell. He does seem a little hard of hearing, Taylor notes. “He would do well with dog savvy kiddos,” she says. “Per the previous owner, Chico does do well with other dogs. A meet and greet would take place at the shelter to make sure current dogs from the home and Chico are a good match. Calmer dogs are recommended.”

If you are interested in adopting Chico, please fill out the adoption application online at lebanonhumane.org or call the Humane Society at 717-628-1369 for more information.

Chico is looking for a couch to call his own.
