Suicide Prevention Month is dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and suicide prevention with an emphasis on “Help, Hope and Healing.”

The Lebanon County Suicide Prevention Task Force has been holding events during this month since 2015, hoping to foster understanding, reduce stigma, and promote community resources that can save lives.

In the past year 30 Lebanon Countians died by suicide. By increasing awareness, we can better recognize warning signs and provide support to those in distress. Education initiatives during this month encourage people to seek help without fear of judgment.

Stigma remains a major barrier to individuals seeking help for mental health issues. By normalizing conversations about mental health and suicide, we can create a culture where individuals feel more comfortable discussing their struggles and accessing necessary resources. In Lebanon County, we highlight the availability of resources such as 988, crisis helpline, counseling services, and support groups.

Suicide Prevention Month is also a time to promote strategies for preventing suicide. By fostering strong community ties and promoting mental well-being, we can reduce the incidence of suicide and support those who are struggling.

Our whole community plays a critical role in supporting mental health. By coming together to address this issue, we can create a network of care and solidarity. This collective effort not only aids in preventing suicide but also builds hope and resilience.
