South Lebanon Township Board of Supervisors approved the appointment of a new member to its sewer authority and the purchase of a flusher truck at the Sept. 9 meeting.
Vice chairman Jonathan Beers was absent.
Township manager Jamie Yiengst recommended the board approve the appointment of resident James Skipper to the sewer authority board, which oversees sewer projects in the township. Yiengst said Skipper provided his qualifications and participated in an interview with the board.Ā
In a letter of intent to the board, Skipper said he has a thorough understanding of sewer construction and is experienced in working with sewer designs. The board approved Skipperās appointment on Tuesday.Ā
The board also approved the purchase request of a 2007 Sterling Camel Flusher Truck from North Lebanon Township. The truck is a used piece of equipment and costs $75,000.
āNorth Lebanon is getting new ones, so we would like to purchase their old one,ā Yiengst said.
In other business, the board:
- Reviewed the results of a five-year audit conducted by the Department of Labor and Industry on March 12. The audit seeks to determine if the township is properly enforcing Pennsylvaniaās statewide building code. According to the audit report, auditors checked the buildingsā doors, vending machines and a first aid kit station, among other items. The audit found the township successfully met the code.
- Approved a development agreement with ACCB Harrisburg RE for the construction of a 240,000-square-foot sales and distribution center at 12 Ritter Way. The facility will distribute Coca-Cola beverages. According to the agreement, ACCB Harrisburg RE will provide financial security of $3.9 million, or 110% of the projectās public improvements cost, to the township in the form of a bond. The public improvements’ estimate includes the costs for stormwater management, restoration and lighting and landscaping. The total cost for improvements is $3.3 million.
