A report by the Pennsylvania Department of Economic and Community Development says that direct tourist spending in Lebanon County dipped about 9.5% in 2024 compared to 2023.

The report states that tourist spending in 2024 was approximately $268.6 million compared to $296.2 million in 2023.

Lebanon is included in the “Dutch Country Roads” region covering Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties. Overall, the region’s direct spending grew 3.4% in 2024, according to the report.

As reported by BizNewsPA, more than half of the region’s spending is in Dauphin and Lancaster counties, which each registered more than $2.7 billion in direct tourist spending. York County is the third regional member of the 10-digit club at $1.2 billion; Cumberland is not far behind at $997 million. BizNewsPA noted that all counties in the region but Berks, Franklin, Lebanon, and Perry saw growth last year.

According to the report, there were 1,795 jobs tied to the tourism in Lebanon County in 2024, down slightly from 1,820 in 2023.

Across the state, visitor spending was up 4.2% in 2024 at $49.9 billion, with visitor growth up 2.5% to 201.6 million visitors. Growth was primarily driven by day and international visitors, DCED said in the report.
