The fifth annual Rubber Duck Derby fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, with the race kicking off promptly at noon along the Quittie Creek between 7th and 8th streets in Lebanon.

The event by Domestic Violence Intervention launches Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Lebanon County.

Community members may support DVI’s critical services by adopting ducks online before 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, or in-person on the day of the race.

Fifteen hundred rubber ducks are available for adoption this year.

“We are celebrating a milestone year for this event, which originated from a staff member’s idea five years ago,” DVI executive director LeAnne Burchik said in a press release.

There are four adoption options: Duo Ducks (2) for $5, Quack Pack (10) for $20, Ducks in a Row (20) for $30, and Duckload (40) for $50. The top three winners will receive cash prizes: $300 for first place, $200 for second place, and $100 for third place.

Lebanon Mayor Sherry Capello will return as master of ceremonies. State Rep. John Schlegel will assist with tossing the ducks, while Lebanon County Commissioner Jo Ellen Litz will return this year to judge the winners of the race.

Sponsorships are available. Contact Burchik for information at (717) 273-7154.

Free parking is available in the YMCA lot closest to the creek at 201 N. 7th St.
