Lebanon city police arrested two women Saturday after discovering a man dead in an apartment during a welfare check, launching what authorities are investigating as a homicide.

Officers found Dontay Maurice Hunter, 45, dead at around 8 a.m. Saturday inside an apartment in the 800 block of Chestnut Street, according to the city police department.

Following an investigation that continued into Saturday evening, police arrested Katlynn Kearney, 32, and Joanne Kearney, 61, on charges of tampering with physical evidence. Both women remained in custody as of Sunday.

Police said Hunter and the suspects knew each other, and there was no threat to the public. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

City police and the Lebanon County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the circumstances surrounding Hunter’s death.

According to court documents, both women were remanded to Lebanon County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail, set at $250,000 each during a preliminary arraignment in front of Magisterial District Judge Kim R. Wolfe. They will next appear in court on Oct. 16 in front of Magisterial District Judge Maria M. Dissinger.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or the district attorney’s office. Tips can also be submitted through Crimewatch.
