PennDOT announced Friday that the Route 501 (College Street) bridge spanning Tulpehocken Creek between W. Richland Avenue and W. Center Avenue in Myerstown Borough has been reopened.
The bridge was closed in June for replacement. The project included minimal widening with 7-foot sidewalks on both sides, PennDOT previously told LebTown. The new bridge replaces a previous bridge built in 1940 that had an overall condition of 4 on a scale of 1 to 9.
The opening comes about a month after the original planned opening date of Oct. 20.
Lobar Site Development, Inc., of Dillsburg, PA, was the contractor on this $2,074,301 project.
Last year, PennDOT acquired a small portion of land (.033 acres) from the borough’s recreation area for the bridge project.
