The Lebanon County Conservation District is hosting two environmental education events in March at the Lebanon Valley Ag Center.

Community Wildlife Safety program

On Friday, March 13, at 6 p.m., Raven Ridge Wildlife Center will be presenting a Community Wildlife Safety program.

Raven Ridge is a nonprofit wildlife rehabilitation center specializing in healing injured birds of prey, mammals, and waterfowl. Their Community Wildlife Safety program is designed to equip the local community to handle wildlife emergencies and increase the well-being of the animals and the people who interact with them.

Participants will learn:

  • A deeper dive into the field of wildlife rehabilitation
  • How to safely handle and transport injured wildlife
  • How to determine if an animal truly needs help (and when it’s best to leave it alone)
  • What to do if you find baby animals—and when the parent is likely just out of sight
  • Best practices for human-wildlife interactions

This program is free to attend and will run for approximately one hour. Due to the sensitive nature of the topic, this program is intended for adults only. Registration is not required but is highly recommended for planning purposes. Please register here: https://khollen.wufoo.com/forms/zgssvjx02r3s5j/

Rain Barrel Workshop

On Friday, March 27, at 6 p.m., Lebanon County Conservation District will be offering a Rain Barrel Workshop. Rain barrels are an easy way for homeowners to reduce stormwater pollution and capture rainwater that can be used around the home. The workshop will include a presentation on water quality and conservation, and each registered participant will receive a 50-gallon rain barrel. The cost to attend is $30 and rain barrels are limited to one per household.

To register and pay for the Rain Barrel Workshop, visit https://lccd.square.site/ or call Katie Hollen at 717-277-5275 ext. 114.

The Lebanon Valley Ag Center is located at 2120 Cornwall Road, Lebanon, PA 17042. For more information on either program, visit www.lccd.org/events.
