Boger Concrete and Quandel Concrete have merged to create BQ Concrete, which will operate under the Byler Materials Group family of companies.
The merger was announced this week. The two companies previously had a joint venture that began in 2019.
“After seven years in business together through our joint venture, we’ve made the decision that the two entities are stronger together,” said Jonathan Byler, president of Byler Materials Group, in a press release.
Quandel Concrete traces its roots to a home building business begun in Minersville in 1882 by Johann Heinrich Quandel. The business grew into today’s Quandel Enterprises; Quandel Concrete was spun out in 1968. The firm’s concrete was used in the construction of the Siegriest Dam, according to the company’s website.
Employees from both companies will continue in their current roles, according to the release. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The company said in the release that BQ Concrete will have five concrete plants in operation, with additional portable plant capabilities.
The combined firm is expected to offer enhanced service capabilities, a broader geographic reach, and “an even stronger commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction,” according to the merger announcement.
