12:30 p.m., Friday, May 8 | 101 College Ave., Annville
We’re proud to introduce the Coach Pantalone Dutchmen Football Classic, our reimagined annual golf outing honoring the impact and legacy of Coach Vince Pantalone. Vince Pantalone coached at LVC for 13 seasons and was the defensive coordinator for seven seasons. He embodied what it meant to be a Dutchman.
In 2013, Coach Pantalone experienced the heartbreaking loss of his son to cancer. That same year through his strength and leadership, he led the Dutchmen to a MAC Championship. He retired from coaching after the 2017 season with three All-Americans, two Defensive Player of the Years, and six All-Region Players. Unfortunately, on Dec. 5, 2024, Coach Pantalone passed away from his ongoing battle with cancer.
The Vince Pantalone Award will be awarded annually to an LVC Football Player who showed resiliency under pressure both on and off the field. This recipient must also exhibit the characteristics that Coach Pantalone preached: character, academics, faith, work ethic, overcoming adversity, and being a good teammate.
Join us for a day of camaraderie, golf, and celebration with the LVC football community! If golf isn’t your thing, there are still plenty of opportunities to support the LVC football team through various sponsorship levels.

Hope for Hurting Parents at North Cornwall Commons
Free | 2-3 p.m., Sunday, May 10 | 410 Springwood Dr., Lebanon
Hope for Hurting Parents was started by Tom and Dena Yohe in 2011, based on their own 10-year journey with their daughter, Renee, who struggled with mental health issues, addiction, and self-injury. They continue to lead free Zoom meetings monthly and send out inspirational emails weekly. They encourage people to start small in-person groups in their own community, which Joe Duke did three years ago. People seem to find comfort and strength in meeting with others who have gone through similar situations. At support group meetings, we discuss one of 22 topics as outlined in Yohe’s workbook, such as self-care, enabling, worry, anxiety, hope, and guarding your family. The workbook also includes prayers, exercises, websites, and other resources. Support group sessions are free and open to anyone who is a parent, caregiver, or loved one of someone who struggles with mental health issues, estrangement, addictions, gender dysphoria, incarceration, homelessness, or any other problem that causes you to experience emotional and spiritual turmoil. Our mission is to give comfort, encouragement, and hope to hurting parents/caregivers on their journey from surviving to thriving.

Derrick Skye: American Mirror, Part 1
Derrick Skye’s American Mirror, Part 1 is a vibrant and thought-provoking work that reflects the composer’s ability to weave together musical traditions from around the world. Skye, a Los Angeles-based composer, conductor, and educator, is known for his innovative approach to composition, blending elements of Western classical music with influences from African, Middle Eastern, Indian, and Balkan musical traditions. American Mirror, Part 1 is a powerful example of his commitment to creating music that celebrates interconnectedness and shared humanity. The title, American Mirror, suggests a reflection of the nation’s complex identity, with its blend of cultures, histories, and perspectives. Skye’s music invites listeners to consider how these elements shape our collective experience and how they resonate in the present. Skye’s compositional style often involves layering different musical ideas, creating a sense of movement and evolution. In this piece, he draws on a wide range of influences, including:
Polyrhythms and Cross-Cultural Rhythmic Techniques: Skye’s use of complex rhythms, inspired by West African drumming and Indian tala systems, creates a dynamic and propulsive energy. These rhythms interact with more traditional Western harmonic structures, resulting in a compelling fusion of styles.
Melodic and Harmonic Diversity: The melodies often draw on modal scales and ornamentation techniques from Middle Eastern and Balkan traditions, adding a distinctive flavor to the work. Skye’s harmonic language is both lush and adventurous, blending consonance and dissonance in unexpected ways.
Innovative Instrumentation and Textures: Skye’s orchestration is imaginative and colorful, with an emphasis on timbral variety. He often incorporates extended techniques and unconventional combinations of instruments to create unique sonic landscapes.
The piece unfolds as a journey, with moments of intense energy giving way to passages of introspection and lyricism. Skye’s ability to seamlessly integrate diverse musical elements speaks to his vision of music as a universal language, capable of bridging cultural divides.
American Mirror, Part 1 is not only a celebration of diversity but also a call to embrace the connections that unite us, making it a powerful and timely addition to the chamber music repertoire.
Franz Joseph Haydn: String Quartet in C Major, Op. 54 No. 2
Haydn’s Op. 54 quartets remain a cornerstone of the chamber music repertoire, celebrated for their inventiveness and enduring appeal. The String Quartet in C Major, Op. 54 No. 2 is a perfect example of why Haydn is regarded as one of the greatest composers in Western music history, a true pioneer whose works continue to inspire and delight.
Franz Joseph Haydn, often referred to as the “Father of the String Quartet,” revolutionized the genre, elevating it from a simple form of entertainment to a sophisticated and expressive art form. Composed in 1788 as part of a set of three quartets (Op. 54), this work reflects Haydn’s maturity as a composer and his ability to balance structural clarity with bold experimentation.
By the time Haydn composed the Op. 54 quartets, he was at the height of his powers. Having spent decades as the Kapellmeister for the Esterházy court, Haydn had honed his craft in relative isolation, earning him the nickname “Papa Haydn” for his role in shaping the Classical style. The Op. 54 quartets were written for Johann Tost, a violinist in Haydn’s orchestra who later became a music dealer. These quartets, sometimes referred to as the “Tost Quartets,” were designed to showcase the virtuosity of the first violinist while maintaining the conversational interplay that defines the string quartet genre.
The quartet is composed of four movements, each offering a distinct character and mood:
Vivace (Lively)
The first movement opens with a bright and energetic theme, immediately establishing the quartet’s joyful and extroverted character. Haydn’s mastery of thematic development is on full display, as he weaves the opening material through a series of inventive variations and modulations. The movement is marked by its rhythmic vitality and playful exchanges between the instruments, creating a sense of spirited dialogue.
Adagio (Slow)
The second movement is the emotional heart of the quartet, offering a profound contrast to the exuberance of the first. Set in the unexpected key of A minor, the Adagio is deeply expressive, with a hauntingly beautiful melody in the first violin. The movement’s harmonic richness and poignant lyricism reveal Haydn’s ability to convey deep emotion within the Classical framework. The interplay between light and shadow creates a sense of introspection and longing.
Menuetto: Allegretto (Moderately fast)
The third movement is full of charm and elegance. Haydn’s characteristic wit shines through in the playful rhythmic shifts and unexpected accents. The contrasting Trio section provides a rustic, dance-like quality, evoking the spirit of folk music. This movement exemplifies Haydn’s ability to balance sophistication with accessibility.
Finale: Adagio – Presto (Slow – Very fast)
The finale begins with a slow, mysterious Adagio, creating an atmosphere of suspense and anticipation. This section is harmonically adventurous, with unexpected modulations and dramatic pauses. Suddenly, the music bursts into a lively Presto, a whirlwind of energy and excitement. The rapid tempo and virtuosic writing for the first violin bring the quartet to a thrilling and triumphant conclusion.
The String Quartet in C Major, Op. 54 No. 2 is a testament to Haydn’s genius and his ability to push the boundaries of the string quartet form. Its combination of elegance, humor, and emotional depth has made it a favorite among performers and audiences alike. The quartet’s innovative structure and dramatic contrasts foreshadow the later developments of Beethoven and other composers of the Romantic era.
The Telegraph Quartet, formed in 2013, is acclaimed for its dynamic interpretations of both standard and contemporary chamber music. Winners of the Walter W. Naumburg Chamber Music Award and the Fischoff Competition Grand Prize, the Quartet has performed at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Philharmonie de Paris, as well as major festivals across the U.S. and abroad.
A champion of 20th- and 21st-century repertoire, the Quartet has premiered works by composers such as John Harbison, Robert Sirota, and Osvaldo Golijov. Their recordings, including the 20th Century Vantage Points series on Azica Records, have earned critical acclaim from The New York Times and others.
Currently Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Michigan, the Telegraph Quartet is equally committed to education and community engagement, offering masterclasses, residencies, and innovative projects worldwide.
