Jackson Township supervisors approved a land development plan for 428 W. Lincoln Ave. at their June 15 meeting. Supervisor Tom Morrissey Jr. was absent.
Justori Management Co. plans to demolish the former Don’s Texaco fuel station and five-bay carwash at the site and construct an approximately 11,000-square-foot multi-tenant retail building. Mike Swank of Justori Management, an LLC associated with Byler Holdings, said tenants for the space are in the works but have not been finalized.
Swank also said underground tanks from the fuel station were removed about a year ago, and they have completed the remediation process with DEP.
The plan was approved conditionally upon successful completion of the letter of credit. Supervisors also approved seven waiver requests pertaining to SALDO, curbs, streetlights, and stormwater.
Supervisors also heard land development plans for a proposed 61,500-square-foot industrial building at the corner of East Richland Avenue and Quarry Drive from representatives for Hanoverian Inc. Trustee. The project would be a speculative build.
Township engineer Steve Sherk of Steckbeck Engineering noted principle zoning use for the building needs to be clarified in the plans. Hanoverian representatives said they received a letter from the township June 10 and are working through the comments.
In other news, council:
- Approved making the following donations in the same amount as 2025 for this year: Goodwill Fire Police, $7,000; Myerstown First Aid Unit, $10,000; Keystone Fire Company, $13,000; Kutztown Fire Company, $11,000; and Myerstown Community Library, $6,000.
- Heard from roadmaster Bryan Weaver that New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co. tentatively plans to mill McKinley Road on June 19 and pave it June 22, pave Fairlane Avenue from King to Main Street on June 23, pave the rest of Fairlane Avenue and the south portion of West Washington Avenue on June 24, pave the rest of West Washington Avenue on June 25, and pave Creamery Street on June 26. Paving plans are subject to change due to weather.
- Approved making an emergency repair to a traffic light support pole at Route 422 and Winterville Road that incurred damage in an accident earlier this year. Insurance will cover the $47,000 repair cost.
- Authorized advertisement of bids for a Flanagan Road culvert replacement.
- Tabled discussion on an ordinance for public water hook-up requirements.
- Approved a non-building waiver agriculture exemption for a subdivision by Jonas and Katie Zook.
Jackson Township supervisors will meet again at 7:30 p.m. on July 6 at 60 N. Ramona Road. The public is welcome to attend.
