A 56-year-old Illinois man was charged with making terrorist threats after allegedly threatening to blow up a local business over a repair bill dispute, Cleona Borough police said.
Plamen Petrov Dimitrov, of Wheeling, was a customer at Transteck, 32 Old Forge Road, Jonestown, on June 11 when he became upset over the cost of repairs to his truck, according to police. Dimitrov told an employee he was going to “blow up the building,” police said.
Dimitrov was also observed in a restricted area of the building, police said. When officers arrived, they found an unattended bag on a window ledge near an exit door. The building was evacuated as a precaution.
Police located Dimitrov across the street at another business. He confirmed the bag was his but denied it contained any explosive device. A search of the bag revealed only personal items, police said.
Dimitrov was charged with making terrorist threats, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct. He was taken to Lebanon County Central Booking after charges were filed.
He was released after posting bail, set at $75,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
