LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.

The Pet of the Week sometimes features a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home. Other times the column spotlights an animal that’s available for adoption through a local shelter and is seeking a forever family.

This week, meet adoptable Athena!

“She’s the absolute sweetest,” says Pitties.Love.Peace rep Mika Stiefel, “A goddess, a warrior….”

Athena is a mixed-breed female, about a year old, Mika says, and she’s “confident, playful, affectionate” and gives plenty of “free hugs!”

Athena “lovingly melts into her people,” she explains. She’s a smart cookie and good listener, she adds, and she’s “friendly with other dogs, or would be content as your one and only. She’s also crate-trained and housebroken, and she’s “kitty approved” as well.

Sadly, Athena is blind in her left eye “from suspected trauma prior to joining us,” Mika says. Athena is currently taking eye drops for her condition.

“Her ideal household would have no children under 8 years old, as she is a herding breed mix and may attempt to herd littles,” she notes. The rescue group is “looking for an active family who will include her in all of life’s adventures.”
