LebTown was founded in 2018 as Leb.Town by Davis Shaver. The site has grown since then from an occasional Lebanon-focused blog into a full-fledged news organization. LebTown has replaced the Lebanon Daily News as the top source for news and information in Lebanon County.

Today LebTown is the “paper of record” for Lebanon County and reaches more than 175,000 readers monthly. LebTown continues to be published by Davis Shaver, who is the sole owner of Lebanon Publishing Company, LebTown’s parent company.

Unlike many local media outlets, this site is owner-operated. There’s no corporate chain behind us, and we depend on the support of our members and advertisers.

Reporters are today a diminishing presence at the local level across the country, and the single most important metric for LebTown long-term will be the number of reporters we employ to cover Lebanon County. Our vision is an informed, connected, and empowered Lebanon County.

All LebTown reporters follow the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics. This code of this, along with our core values, constitutes our newsroom ethics policy.

The product LebTown produces isn’t news – it’s trust. In a media landscape rife with misinformation, trust is the key to producing and distributing high-impact local news in a tight-knit community. Everything published by LebTown is reviewed by at least two editors prior to publication. More generally speaking, considerations regarding trust are made in every single decision we make as an organization, from what we cover (or don’t cover) and how we frame and report stories, to how we monetize and distribute our content, who we work with, and so much more.
