Jarod Thomas Shields, 50, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the companion of Brittanee McKenna, with whom he shared six years together.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of Donna (Humes) Lavan of Annville and the late Thomas Anthony Shields.

Jarod worked as a vendor for Mission Bread Company and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed listening to music, and his favorite band was Journey. Jarod loved detailing cars and spending time with his children and family. He enjoyed going to concerts, derby races, and bowling with his friends. Jarod was an easygoing person who was loved by all who knew him.

In addition to his mother, Donna, and companion, Brittanee, he is survived by three children, Zoe Kimberly Shields, Kaylee Laraine Qualters, and Richard Thomas Shields; two step-children, Madeline Faye McKenna and Jackson Kristofer Dewey; two brothers, Thomas Richard Shields, and wife, Tara, of Royersford, and Edward S. Cooper, and wife, Stacy, of Columbus, OH; two step-sisters, Maria and Christina Shields; three nephews, Aiden Thomas Shields, Collin William Richard Cooper, and Cameron Elliott Cooper; parents-in-law, Bob and Cindy Hetrick, of Cleona, and Kristine Castro, who co-parented with Jarod, their children.

Memorial services will be held Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. from Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 618 E. Main St., Annville. Inurnment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of his service at the funeral home.
