The Library System of Lebanon County has announced the book selection for this year’s Lebanon County Reads campaign.
The Baker’s Secret by Stephen Kiernan was selected by way of a vote that gave local residents the opportunity to choose from five selected titles.
Kiernan’s The Baker’s Secret is a historical-fiction novel set in German-occupied France in early-June 1944, and tells the story of a baker who builds a “clandestine network of barter and trade” hidden from view of armed soldiers.
The campaign will run run through the summer and wrap up on September with a lecture by the author, hosted at Congregation Beth Israel, on September 10. A reception will be held for donors and other select ticket holders prior to the keynote presentation.
Tickets for the author lecture will go be on sale starting June 3 at all six Lebanon County Libraries locations as well as at Cornwall Manor’s Gateway Library.
For those that would like to take part in the campaign and read The Baker’s Secret, all of the Lebanon County libraries will have copies of the book in regular print, large print, audiobook on CD, and downloadable e-book and e-audiobook.
