The Lebanon County Historical Society (LCHS) will host two Sunday programs in the upcoming fall season. All programs are open to the public.

The first program will take place this Sunday, September 15, at 1:30pm in the LCHS auditorium. Speaker Terry Diener, a Lebanon native and longtime broadcaster and journalist, will present on Charles W. Eckman, a local Civil War soldier, and the Baldy Guards of the 93rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Regiment of Lebanon. Diener’s broadcasting career began in Palmyra over 40 years ago, and has done research in both state and national archives on Civil War soldiers like Eckman.

A second Sunday program is scheduled for October 20 at 1:30pm in the auditorium. Laurie Snyder will present on the 47th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and the life of Lieutenant Governor and Civil War Officer John P. S. Gobin.

Gobin’s considerable influence in those positions and as an attorney and businessman left a significant mark on Lebanon County, as well as the rest of the state. Snyder is the historian of the Pennsylvania 47th, and has done extensive research on these topics.

Tours of the Stoy Museum at the Society are held every Saturday at 11:00am ($6 for adults, $3 for children). For information on the Sunday programs and any other LCHS events, contact the office via email or by calling (717) 272-1473.
