Late Wednesday, City of Lebanon Police announced the results of autopsies conducted on Kenneth Santiago and Alexander Hernandez.
The two men had been found dead alongside the Quittapahilla Creek earlier this year.
Police, in conjunction with the Lebanon County Coroner’s office, announced that final autopsy results indicated both men died due to complications related to fentanyl toxicity.
Santiago had been found dead on May 1 in the vicinity of 1300 block of Cumberland Street, where a vacant diner bridges the canal portion of the creek. An investigation led to the discovery of Hernandez’s body about one mile away on May 4.
According to the police release, Santiago died of fentanyl toxicity and Hernandez died of drowning complicating fentanyl toxicity.
Police said that the case remains open, with an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the men’s deaths to continue.
