Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!
You know the story; we didn’t feel like making dinner, but we didn’t feel like going out either. An outside temperature of 9º will do that. I gave a suggestion for Chinese and thought about a place I used to frequent all the time, Willow Garden.
Located at the corner of 9th and Willow streets, they offer only take-out service. Back in the day, I used to teach a couple blocks away and this was my lunch spot once or twice a week. But since I moved on from that job, I have not been here in close to 14 years. Will it restore my nostalgic quest?

Our meal tonight consisted of Chicken with Garlic Sauce combo ($8.75), the Dragon & Phoenix chef special ($12.25) and crab Rangoon ($5.25). The first dish was nice size chicken pieces with bountiful veggies mixed in a subtle flavored garlic sauce. The fried rice complimented the main dish well. This combo came with a nice crispy egg roll.
Our second dish, the Dragon & Phoenix, is a mix of General Tso chicken and shrimp with vegetables. This dish is served with white rice. Our chicken pieces were a little over fried but tasted great. The shrimp were large and came with six shrimp. The General Tso sauce had some heat. It was a great dish for my dinner. The rangoon came in a folded-up wonton and filled with that crab and cream cheese goodness.
Our take: Willow Garden offers a standard Chinese menu with a few unique plates. Our plates were full portion sizes that left plenty for additional meals. You’ll get full size meats and a nice mix of veggies. Prices are very reasonable, and flavor will leave you wanting more.
We give this place ????.
