Editor’s Note: In 2021, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

The staff of critics were out and about traveling between different stops on the Visit Lebanon Valley Java Journey. We have a few more to hit before we finish. But the other week we stopped by a quaint little bakery on the west side of Annville.

Whirling Dervish Bakery, located at the corner of West Main and Lancaster streets, is open Thursday through Saturday in the morning hours. They offer different sophisticated homemade pastry treats.

One of the staples within this shop is the gnome nugget ($2.25). If you step inside the shop, you will see lots of gnomes. Gnome nuggets are fresh, homemade peanut butter balls. You can find this served at several establishments across the Lebanon Valley. Peanut butter mixed with rice cereal and covered in chocolate is a sweet treat that goes great with coffee, ice cream or by itself. Do yourself a favor and “treat yo self” to one, you won’t be disappointed.
