Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

This past Friday we had a chance to attend a food truck fundraiser for the Keystone Fire Co. in Myerstown. These events are great for us, we get to sample quite a few different trucks at one time. This helps us out during a busy life. And as the weather begins to turn, you will see more of these events popping up, or you will see food trucks out and about more often.

But now, back to Friday evening. It was a gorgeous night out and it was very well attended. Almost all trucks had long lines, long waits, and even ran out of food! Unfortunately, this is a part of the game with these events. It is hard to predict how many people will come.

Our first stop of the night was at a cheese-themed trailer with mostly appetizers and a few main dishes. That’s What Cheese Said (love the name!) had one item on the list that piqued our interest, the Cheese Bombs ($8). A mixture a cheddar, Monterey and mozzarella rolled into a ball, battered & deep fried, and served with homemade marinara sauce.

An order gets you five bombs. The battered bomb is a simple bite that brings about melted cheese. Even though its deep fried, it doesn’t come across as heavy and you don’t feel bad for eating it. The bomb also doesn’t fall apart as you eat it and allows you to take several bites and fully enjoy it goodness.

Our take: The food is high quality. The homemade marinara was a nice touch. The main dishes were limited but we would have liked to see a cheese sandwich on the menu. This truck is located on the West Shore, and it was our first time seeing it in the Valley. We hope they will be back for more events.

We give this place ????.
