Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!
As we continue our journey on the Ice Cream Wars, we found ourselves down in the southern end of the Valley.
Along Route 501 just south of the county line, The Pretzel Hut offers dining and ice cream treats, from soft serve to hand dipped and a few other creations to satisfy the sweet tooth. There is seating inside or outside along the Stiegel Pike. If you’re a fan of Coca-Cola, this is right up your alley.

The Pretzel Hut also has a petting zoo towards the back of the property. Plenty of goats, chickens, peacocks, and other animals to which you can say “Hi.” Be careful as you go back there, one critic found out that she wore the favorite flavor dress of one of the goats.
This evening we got to the Pretzel Hut just before they closed for the night. We got a small peanut butter & creamsicle swirl in a cup ($3.29) and a strawberry sundae ($5.69). They rotate soft serve flavors regularly.
The soft serve was a creamy blend of two flavors we had never tried together before. Individually, they were good. The flavor of the peanut butter was subtle and not overpowering. The blend they create is top-notch.
The sundae could have used more strawberries to make the flavor standout. The sundae itself was presented nicely with the whipped cream and cherry decoration. A creamy vanilla soft serve that is very good.
