Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

Today we visited a spot in the north end of the Valley. Not a place one would expect to find ice cream. But I do remember this from my childhood. My Nan & Pap would spend time in the Lickdale Campground, and we spent some great times there.

Located just off Route 72 by the light in Lickdale, the Jonestown / Hershey NE KOA Journey campground has an ice cream stand. They serve Turkey Hill ice cream and have both hand dipped and soft serve. They also have several sundaes, flurries, splits, and milkshake options.

For tonight’s offering, we got a Root Beer Float ($4) and the Peanut Butter Explosion Flurry ($6).

The float, made with hand dipped vanilla served with C & C root beer. A classic summertime treat that was a hit with the little critic. But she did share it with me… eventually. They only add a small amount of root beer to start and give you the can to add as you please.

The peanut butter flurry comes with vanilla soft serve, peanut butter sauce, cookie dough, and Oreo pieces mixed throughout. First taste was exactly as the name describes. For me, it tasted like a whole bag of peanut butter cups was dumped in there. This will satisfy any craving you may have for peanut butter.

This location makes some very tasty and affordable cool treats to cool you down, especially during a 9-day heat wave. The location has plenty of deck seating to be able to enjoy your ice cream.

We give this place ????.
