Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

While at the Lebanon Area Fair, we sampled a lot of great food. Milkshakes, peach sundaes, sausage sandwich, cheeseburger, sticky buns… don’t worry, that was two nights worth of visits!

During our second night there, we saw a truck that several people have suggested to us. They seems to be out and about a lot and it’s hard to miss the colorful truck. We’ve been wanting to try Island Thyme Grill for a while, but it just never worked out for us until tonight.

Island Thyme Grill offers Caribbean inspired dishes such as a Baja Bowls, jerk chicken, and tots. They have it posted on their truck they are voted the #1 food truck in Lebanon County. Will they live up to the hype?

Tonight, we opted for the Cabana Tots ($12) thanks to many of your suggestions. These tots are seasoned and topped with Hawaiian pulled pork, pineapple pepper jam, queso fresco cheese, and a drizzle of crema. The critics shared and there was plenty to split after all the other goodies we had. I was excited about the pineapple pepper jam. It didn’t have as much heat as I would have liked, but the sweet and savory was a great combination.

Our take: Island Thyme Grill is a food truck that has items that are out of the ordinary for our area. We can see why everyone suggested to try them because they lived up to the hype. They focus on a few dishes and do them well. The food was out quick and hot. We can’t wait to try other dishes from them!

We give this place ?????.
