Observed food stored on a shelf with non-food items in the basement. Specifically cream of wheat was stored with High Performance Wheel Coating and stone and grout sealer.

The facility lined an open-mesh wire shelf with cardboard and plastic, this is a food contact surface because food equipment is being stored in it. It was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. A container for food equipment needs to be made of a durable material that can be cleaned, not cardboard.

Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil.

6 – 301.12 Hand Drying Provision
Cloth towel is being used to dry hands at the handwashing sink in the employee toilet room. This issue was observed on 6/1/21. Requirements in the Food Code were reviewed with the owner at that time.

Potential rodent harborage areas inside the food facility observed in the prep area due to rodent droppings behind equipment.

Cardboard is being used to line the top shelves of the reach-in refrigerator. Cardboard cannot be cleaned and restricts the proper flow of air in the unit.

First aid supplies and over-the-counter medications being stored in the same area with food and a possible source of contamination. On a previous inspection medical items were stored on a shelf in the food prep area with food items. The medical items were moved to a separate storage area by the employee toilet room. Now, food items are being stored on the shelf with the medical items.
