Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

Welcome to the first season of our highly anticipated Lebanon Valley Cheesesteak Wars. Four entrants from the Valley will compete to be declared the winner of Best Cheesesteak in The Valley.

Our judgement will be based upon several factors including style of quality of steak, composition, flavor, roll, and overall impression.

We continue over on the east side of Lebanon at the intersection of 5th Ave and Cumberland. Gabby’s Italian Bistro was suggested by a few friends of the critic crew.

The menu only has one option listed so our selection for judgement this evening was the Cheesesteak ($12.99). This comes with steak meat, sautéed onions, American cheese, and sauce on their own homemade roll.

There was no shortage of steak inside the sandwich. The sauce flavor overpowered everything else, so it was hard to tell if and how the steak was seasoned. If you love sauce on your cheesesteak, you’ll like this one. The roll made it difficult to have even bites throughout and made for a lot of spillage.

How will this cheesesteak stack up against the others? We shall see.
