The 12th annual memorial march will take place on Saturday, Sept. 23, at Strickler Field, Fort Indiantown Gap, rain or shine.

Registration is still open for the event, which is organized by the United Service Organizations (USO) and Pennsylvania Army National Guard Training Center

Held annually on the weekend of Gold Star Mother’s Day, the event draws hundreds of participants to honor the memories of fallen military service members. Gold Star families will be among the attendees, and a Wall of Remembrance will feature tributes to the fallen.

Participants have a range of event options to choose from, including a challenging 28-mile ruck march or a lighter 14-mile version. Those preferring a less intense activity can opt for a 5K run/walk or a 28-mile hand cycle. There are also virtual 5K and 28-mile ruck options for those unable to attend in person.

The 28- and 14-mile ruck marches will take participants through a course featuring varying terrains — from asphalt roads to steep mountain trails on Fort Indiantown Gap’s training lands. For safety, a chip start and finish line is in place, and participants must wear event bibs. Personal drones are prohibited, and pets are not allowed, except for licensed working service dogs.

Online registration is available until Sept. 21 at bikesignup.com. On-site registration will be offered on Sept. 22 and 23, but a late fee will apply.

Packet pickup and check-in will take place on Friday, Sept. 22, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the USO, Building 13-190, or starting at 5:30 a.m. on the day of the event at Strickler Field.

A portion of the proceeds from event registration will go to the USO, which is hosting the event for the second time. The organization will use the funds to continue its mission of supporting America’s military service members.
