The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that work will resume soon on the realignment of Wilhelm Avenue at Cornwall Road in the City of Lebanon and North Cornwall Township.

Work began last year with the demolition of 1302 Cornwall Road.

1302 Cornwall Road was razed on Oct. 9 to make way for a realigned intersection of Cornwall Road and Wilhelm Avenue (LebTown)

The project is scheduled to begin again on Monday, April 1, and is expected to be completed by Sept. 11. According to a press release from PennDOT spokesman Dave Thompson, the project will begin with drainage improvements on Cornwall Road, followed by widening on Cornwall Road and construction to realign Wilhelm Avenue.

The project will also create a four-way signalized intersection with York Street and Cornwall Road. Other improvements will include sidewalk connectivity improvements, ADA compliant curb ramps, bike lane accommodations, drainage improvements, lighting, and other miscellaneous construction.

The contractor is H&K Group Inc. of Skippack. The cost is estimated at $1,842,599.

Thompson noted there may be traffic disruptions and single lane patterns under flagging Mondays through Thursdays after 8:30 a.m. and Fridays between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. There will also be a short-term closure for paving, which is expected to occur later this year.
