PennDOT announced Thursday, June 27, that the traffic signal installed at Cornwall Road & Wilhelm Avenue has been placed on flash mode and will be fully operational starting Tuesday, July 2.
“Signals are going on flash today and are expected to be fully operational in time for the holiday weekend,” said PennDOT spokesperson Dave Thompson.
“Construction manager said the work is moving along at a pretty fast clip.”
In addition to the realignment of Wilhelm Avenue to create a four-way signalized intersection with York Street and Cornwall Road, the project includes sidewalk connectivity improvements, ADA compliant curb ramps, bike lane accommodations, drainage improvements, lighting, and other miscellaneous construction.
Planning for the project began in 2016. Work commenced in October 2023, when a residence at 1320 Cornwall Road was demolished to make way for the realignment.

All work is expected to be completed by Sept. 11. At some point later this year, the road will be closed briefly for paving.
H&K Group Inc. of Skippack is the contractor on this $1,842,599 project.
