The other evening, we both had a busy day and were looking for an easy, comfort meal. Usually that means Chinese for dinner.

So, we decided to try a different spot because that’s what we do. I recalled a place I tend to drive by quite frequently, Golden China. Located along the 900 block of Cumberland Street, this restaurant is set up for takeout service.

I pulled up their online ordering platform and we made our selections. This evening’s dinner consisted of crab Rangoon ($6.95), a pint of egg drop soup ($3.95), orange chicken ($10.95), and Hunan shrimp ($10.95).

The crab Rangoon contained small dollops of filling folded over in a wonton chip. For us, it was some of the best we have had in this area. The egg drop soup comes with whole wonton chips, not just strips, and was freshly made. We lucked out, they gave us a quart instead of a pint. We did not get photos of these two items.

For the main dishes, the orange chicken comes with large chicken chunks in an orange sauce with pork fried rice and an egg roll. Our chicken was fried well and had good solid pieces. The orange sauce could have had more flavor, but this satisfied our comfort craving.

The Hunan shrimp comes with a tangy spice sauce (you can choose the level of heat) with veggies, fried rice, and egg roll. The Hunan sauce came with a good medium heat and plenty of shrimp and veggies as well as plenty of rice.

Our take: The menu here is standard but they put in some effort to have good, fresh food. The online ordering was also one of the easiest we used. Some of the best crab Rangoon we have had, and the wonton chips are delicious. This might be my new go to spot for comfort food.

We give this place 🥓🥓🥓🥓.
