Editor’s Note: Michael and Nicole Borrell review Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. The couple aims to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to partner with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!
Welcome to the inaugural season of our highly anticipated Lebanon Valley Breakfast Wars. Three entrants from the Valley will compete to be declared the winner of Best Breakfast in The Valley.
Our judgement will be based upon several factors including style of quality, portion, taste, and overall impression. We will be judging two breakfast dishes from each restaurant.
We kickoff our first season over in Palmyra, along East Main Street, at MIAA Mexican Bistro. This newer restaurant is less than a year old and has booth and table seating available.

The breakfast menu includes the classic breakfast fare as well as a few Mexican inspired dishes.
Our selection for judgement this morning is the Mexican skillet ($12) and Chilaquiles ($12).
The Mexican skillet comes with sautéed potatoes, red peppers, onions, and chorizo, topped with two eggs and cheddar jack cheese. This loaded dish comes out in a personal skillet and smells great. Sausage and onions are plentiful. What gives this dish something extra is the hot sauce. MIAA Mexican Bistro offers a green homemade hot sauce that will bring plenty of heat and start the day right.
The Chilaquiles are fried corn tortillas simmered in a red salsa topped with cheese and two eggs. This traditional Mexican breakfast dish comes in a large bowl alongside a mild salsa. The flavor is great but the dish could use something else besides the eggs on top, possibly sliced avocado. As one critic found out, this can be a messy dish.
Did we just have the best breakfast in the Valley?
Next up we will travel to our other entrants: Porch & Pantry and Lebanon Valley Craft Brewery. After which, we will announce our winner.
