More than 150 soldiers with the Pennsylvania National Guard’s 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team are set to depart on a year-long deployment to Germany.

Part of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 56th SBCT, they will serve with Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine aiding 7th Army Training Command to help Ukraine defend itself against an invasion, Major Travis Mueller, state media relations officer for the Pennsylvania National Guard, said in a release.

The joint training group has been training the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2015, relocating the operation to Grafenwoehr, Germany, in 2022.

Christopher Costello, commander of the 56th SBCT. “I am confident that we have the right people and the right training to ensure the success of this mission.”
