We had a plan for dinner tonight. We got our orders together and we were going to do takeout. Just one problem, the place we were going to patronize was closed, even though their Facebook page said they were open for another hour.

Oh well, so we needed to call an audible. So I went a little bit down the road to North Cornwall Commons and tried a pizza place that is new to us.

Side note, will they ever finally pave the road within the Commons, or will we forever be forced to avoid the enlarged manhole covers? But I digress.

Located in one of the buildings on Springwood Drive is Hearty Slice Pizza a pizza shop with sandwiches, strombolis, and Italian entrees on the menu. They have a large dining area as well as take out service and delivery through door dash/uber eats.

For our dinner tonight, we chose a small chicken bacon ranch stromboli ($14) and a cheesesteak hoagie ($11.99). They do charge a 2% credit card fee.

The small boli is 12โ€ and comes loaded with chicken, bacon, mozzarella, and ranch. The dough is fantastic with a good crispy edge and topped with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. Yet it was soft and fluffy. I almost went back a few days later for another.

The cheesesteak hoagie came with lettuce, tomato and banana peppers on a soft roll with mayo. The tomato is tucked into the inside of the roll but was sparse. The steak is well grilled and seasoned.

Our take: This shop has good dough for their dishes. The stromboli is great and I can only imagine how good a slice is. The menu is standard for the area, but it is done well. They have a nice website to easily view the menu.

We give this place ๐Ÿฅ“๐Ÿฅ“๐Ÿฅ“๐Ÿฅ“.
